The tourist town 'El Chalten' founded in 1985, is located in the department Lago Argentino, in the southwest of Santa Cruz province. Is the youngest town in the country.
'El Chalten' is the name given to the mountain by the Tehuelches, the native inhabitants of the region.
This mountain was later named 'Cerro Fitz Roy', by explorer Francisco Pascacio Moreno.
In the Aonikenk language it means 'Smokey mountain'.

We had a wonderful stay in El Chaltén thanks to Alejandra! She’s a wonderful host who prepares a delicious breakfast & is always available to recommend beautiful hikes and great places to eat.
The only surprise we had was at payment, where we were asked to pay an additional percentage because we were paying by card.

I stayed here for a few days during my time in El Chalten and I loved every moment. Alejandra was so nice and welcoming. She helped us get settled and made sure we had breakfast and all things for our daily trekking/excursions. The room had a private bathroom and was cleaned daily. We really enjoyed our stay here :)
