When you arrive in Nelson the Intercity bus station is a minutes walk away and the airport Super Shuttle drops off and picks up from our front door. (as do Stray, Kiwi Experience, Abel Tasman Coach lines, kayak companies... - making life easy for you!
At YHA Nelson we have great beds, fast free WiFi, a free sauna & awesome City bikes & E-bikes ...........we can also help you find the best coffee, great walks, awesome kayak trips, refreshing swimming holes, stunning views and lots of free things to do in Nelson.
If you love food, our large well equipped kitchens provide plenty of space to cook your favourite meal or bake a cake. The modern colourful dining area is a great place to socialise. We even provide a selection of herbs and spices along with the fresh bread that's delivered daily for our guest to enjoy. If you want some quiet time our lounge has a reading area/book exchange, a music space and an enclosed TV Room with hundreds of movies.
Wante to explore Nelson try one of our great City Bikes or Amazing E-Bikes available to hire everyday from reception. There are now more than 100Km's of Bike friendly tracks and trails around Nelson.

Awesome stay. Staff are very warm and welcoming. Place is spotless! Love staying here and would stay again every time I’m in Nelson.

Baffled by 10/10 reviews, suspect foul play by YHA. Security lacking: entry codes written on paper and dorms never locked. YHA's app system would be better. Rooms subpar: uncomfortable lower bunks, no lights/plug sockets. Staff friendly but passive-aggressive. No atmosphere, cold hostel with limited heating. 1GB internet limit. Guests forced to leave communal areas by 11:30am, never experienced this in 100+ hostel stays. Unwelcoming environment. Will try other recommended hostels in Nelson.

overall a great hostel with free bread from Nelson and the staff was nice, but you're not allowed to stay at the property after 11am after check-out, which is INSANE. We had to wait 4 hours in a cafe for our bus, which is stupid. The owner kicked us out as soon as the clock showed 11, whithout warning us before. For a hostel thats a no-go, since a lot of people are waiting for the bus etc. before traveling on.
