First met hostel is on the platform behind the Block 2 Yuhua Road, in the center of Chengde. There is only 2km from the hostel to the railway station, and the distance from the hostel to the Summer Resort is 2km too.
First Met Hostel is located in the center of Chengde with convenient transportation and comfort living condition. In our hostel, reading, writing and relaxing are parts of your life. Savoring tea, chatting and singing games will be frequent after your arrival. For environmental protection, all disposable wash supplies are not provided. We hope First Met Hostel is a warm home for all the travelers.

First Met hostel is an absolutely lovely place. The staff are kind and helpful and we felt right at home. They suggested some great hikes, lent us kitchen equipment to make sangria, and kindly gave us breakfast at 6:30 on the day we were leaving. We stayed in the tents outside and they were comfortable. There are tables outside and an area inside to chill or watch films, and the hostel has a lovely atmosphere. Not to mention the beautiful cat, cute library, and board games on offer!

Hostel staff are helpful and the staff meal is cheap and delicious. Beds are hard as with all Chinese hostels, but the room and bathroom were adequate and the hostel cat was very cute! Location was great and price very good.

For a Scottish solo female traveller with no Chinese or internet access, coming to Chengde was an adventure! When you do find the hostel it is incredibly warm, helpful and welcoming! I intended to use buses but in the end taxis are best if you're as lacking in Mandarin as me. The dorm bed was quite hard and toilet sometimes a little smelly but there was always someone available to help when I needed (often!!). And staff meals and films in the evening were brilliant!! Xie xie!
