Flying Pig Uptown is located near Leidseplein, the Rijksmuseum, and the Van Gogh Museum, and is also next to the large Vondelpark, a popular relaxation spot. We like that this hostel has a bar and smoking area downstairs and is "very close to bars and the tram stop," according to our guests. Several visitors have also told us they appreciate the homey atmosphere, which feels "more like hanging out in a friend's house than a hostel."

Great hostel, the only issues I had were with the guests, so nothing wrong with the hostel itself. As a young solo female traveler I likely wouldn’t stay here alone again, since it’s a party hostel in Amsterdam, the men can be very creepy. Unfortunately I got a mixed dorm but was the only girl so I didn’t feel the safest, next time i’d definitely go for the female only. Everything else is amazing though. Staff are lovely, facilities are great, kitchen is very small but it gets the job done

Very walkable to everything you need to do in Amsterdam. Cafes, Restaurants and the canals. The bar stays open late. Smoke room connected to the bar as well. Bathrooms are very small but showers are great size. Highly recommend!

I think that one of the best things about this hostel is our smoking area, because let's be honest....a lot of people come to Amsterdam to smoke! But if you don't like to smoke you can also have a great time at our hostel. We have a bar and we're really close to the famous Vondelpark, Leidseplein (the entertainment area), Museumplein (Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum) - so if you want to go out and shop, eat, drink, visit museums or find a coffee shop, everything is just around the corner. Personally I recommend that visitors go for a stroll around the 'Nine Little Streets', called '9 Straatjes' in Dutch; they're great for shopping, food and drinks and nice views over the canals.
For fun we have daily free walking tours and pub crawls as well as great drink specials all day, every day. Our main age group is young travellers who like to meet new people and party, chill or do both!
