Maka Hostel is located in the heart of Oaxaca, just a 5-minute walk from the city's main tourist attractions, restaurants, and artisan markets. Our hostel is perfect for travellers who want to be close to the action but still enjoy a peaceful atmosphere.
We have happy hour every day at 6 pm, where you can enjoy great drinks and meet other Backpackers. Our central location means that you can easily explore the city on foot, including the historic centre, which is only a 5-minute walk away.
One of the unique features of Maka Hostel is our pool, where you can cool off and relax during hot afternoons. We also have 24-hour reception to assist you with anything you need.
Maka Hostel Policies & Conditions:
- Our check-in time is 2:00 pm and check-out time is 11:00 am.
- Please note that we only accept cash as payment.
- If you plan on arriving after 8 pm, please let us know in advance so that our night guard can let you in and check you in.
- We also want to remind guests that we do not accept anyone under the age of 18.
Cancellation policy: 48 hours before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.

Check in after 14:00 pm.
Check out before 11:00 am.
Non-smoking inside, only in outdoor areas.

We had a bit of a time finding a solid hostel our first few days in Mexico so landing here was a breath of fresh air. Everything was epic.

Absolutely hands down the best hostel in Oaxaca de Juarez!! Where do I start?! The staff are incredible, the vibe is on point, the amenities and chance to meet others are beyond anyone’s expectations. The entire place is stupidly clean, the showers are better than mine in the UK and it’s just overall a great place to stay. I’m not leaving until I’m kicked out :) :) :) te amo Maka MX

Favorite hostel I've stayed in so far!
Amazing people and the best staff, all the volunteers are incredible. Shout-out to Sol, Stephanie, and Ciara for being awesome.
Biggest plus for me was the kitchen, as a professional chef, I'm usually pretty picky about where I cook but the space, cleanliness and available supplies had me cooking elaborate feasts for new friends almost everyday.
Only con was the heat in the rooms at night but the hostel is always improving, just in the time I was there
