Set in Te Anau, Bob & Maxines Backpackers offers quiet shared accommodation and a few private rooms just a 5-minute drive to town. The calming views of llama paddocks, and distant mountains are a picturesque way to start and end each day. There's free bikes and helmets available for guests, free private parking, a shared lounge with big windows offering stunning views of the mountains, shared kitchen, fireplace, and a garden. If you're arriving in Te Anau by bus it's about a 30 minute flat walk or we are happy to pick you up.

This was my favourite of the 4 hostels I stayed in. Lucky enough to have a 6 bed dorm to myself but even if it were full, the room was really spacious with a high ceiling so no bumping into one another or your head & you can leave the patio doors open so you can walk right outside and get plenty of fresh air. The bathrooms are shared but used one at a time so you have privacy. Great kitchen facilities. Bob was really helpful. Quiet at night. Free laundry, bikes & parking. Very chilled.

Bob and Maxine’s is an amazing hostel! It’s so clean and comfortable. Both Bob and Maxine are hosts that quickly become friends. I absolutely loved this hostel, it was very comfortable and welcoming. Alpacas on the farm next door that you could feed, which was an experience on its own. Bob and Maxine provide bikes to ride into town, recommendations on activities, and a fire during the cold days. Can’t recommend this place enough! Will definitely stay when passing through again.
