Stay at Sha La La for a unique stay located in the heritage district, with guided walks to let you experience KL just like the locals do.
Sha La La modern interiors feature spacious dorms built around a light filled courtyard, a large common area with big screen TV, a reading area with high speed Wi-Fi or you can chill at the back alley garden where you can smoke and have a cold beer.
We are situated in between China Town and Bukit Bintang. Popular destinations such as Chinatown, local bazaars, 100 year-old temples, a 100 year-old rainforest reserve lets you experience the many facets of Kuala Lumpur.

This hostel does not live up to expectations at all. You are given the option to book a mixed, male or female dorm but in reality it is one big dorm with just a wall to separate so no real privacy. You have to check in at the hotel next door which is a lengthy process and then you are left to find the dorm by yourself which is difficult with no signs so other guests (although not many) end up telling you the way. There was no courtyard, No WiFi or toilet roll and cold shower. Don’t stay here!

Didn’t stay here as they wanted to charge more than the confirmed booking. The manager claimed it was a government tax of 10MYR per night but the total was different. He was quite confrontations and immediately assumed I wouldn’t stay as this happened him previously via Hostelworld bookings. It’s not that much money but his manner made me very uncomfortable.
Hostelworld kindly refunded my deposit.
The hostel is not called Sha La La it has several other names outside.
