Retro is the first established youth hostel in Cluj, located in the very centre of the city. Since 2002 we have been the ideal place to stay for budget travellers, families and groups. We offer quality lodging in a wide variety of rooms (single, double, triple, dorms) with private or shared bathrooms.
Since 2007 Retro Travel Agency offers day tours in Transylvania and package tours throughout the country, car rentals, free bike rental for our guest and much more...
We are located on a quite pedestrian lane, away from any traffic noise, two minutes walking from the main square of the city, and 500 meters from the 'Babes Bolyai' University, the second largest in the country. Open by enthusiastic travellers, Retro Youth Hostel, is nestled inside the medieval city wall, within a walk of main tourist attractions in town.
Thus, you can reach in the walking distance all the touristy sights of the old part of Cluj such as The Tailors Fort, Museum of History, Museum of Art, Botanical Garden, Ethnographic Museum.
Retro Youth Hostel is offering over 48 accommodation places in shared rooms, triple rooms, single and double rooms, many of them having private bathrooms. From our desk office you can find different maps of the region, youth hostel and international telephone cards, or you can easily join us in one of the day trips we organize (among the most requested: Scarisoara Ice Cave tour, Maramures region tour, Felix thermal baths & the Bear's Cave tour, Turda Salt Mine tour and many more).
We offer coffee, tea and cooking facilities, safe boxes for luggage, info service and a friendly English speaking staff.

I had a very pleasant stay at the hostel! Met amazing people, that were also attracted by the charm of the Retro Youth Hostel. The location is very nice. About 5 minutes from the main square and 10 minutes from a park where you could walk and chill in the morning. The owner is super kind, and would love to help you with your stay/ recommendations. If there would have been one remark: there was no regular check on the facilities (it was low season and Easter but still many visitors). At some point the only trash bin we had was over over full and the toilet paper was gone upstairs. Though I would very much recommend the hostel to everyone visiting Cluj!
